What is the difference between the internal and external fuel filter?

1. Differences in layout

The external fuel filter is usually installed under the chassis, while the internal fuel filter is installed in the fuel tank, usually combined with the fuel pump.

The working principle of the built-in fuel filter is the same as that of the external product, which allows the fuel to flow through it and filters the impurities. However, since the built-in fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump and is located in the fuel tank, it is less affected by the environment, and the replacement operation is more complicated, so the replacement time and mileage interval are longer.

⒉ The difference between the replacement cycle

It is conceivable that the external fuel filter is installed under the chassis, and sand and muddy water will be thrown onto its surface when driving, causing corrosion and damage to the filter interface and housing, and sometimes bumped. Therefore, the service life of the external fuel filter is relatively short, and it is usually replaced once every 20,000 km.

The built-in fuel filter combined with the fuel pump, because it is enclosed in the fuel tank, is basically not affected by external factors, so the service life is longer, up to 80,000 km. However, the replacement operation of the built-in fuel filter is more complicated, and the owner should pay attention to the fuel quality at ordinary times to avoid the filter having to be replaced in advance due to excessive clogging.
