Working Principle of Fuel Water Separator

The main working principle of the fuel water separator is to apply the theory of fluid mechanics. At the moment when a large flow of oily sewage flows continuously and synchronously (the oil and water are at the same speed, that is, the relative turbulent flow), the oil droplets continuously collide and change from small to small. Large, thus accelerate the movement, so that the different specific gravity of the oil and water flow, stratification and separation, and finally achieve the purpose of oil-water separation.

The main function is to remove the moisture in the diesel, so as to reduce the failure of the injector and prolong the service life of the engine. The principle is mainly based on the density difference between water and fuel oil, using the principle of gravity sedimentation to remove impurities and water separator, there are diffusion cones, filters and other separation elements inside. The fuel water separator also has other functions, such as pre-heating the fuel to prevent wax formation and filtering impurities.

working principle:

1: The oily sewage is sent to the fuel water separator by the sewage pump, and after passing through the diffusion nozzle, the large oil droplets will float on the top of the left oil collecting chamber.

2: The sewage containing small oil droplets enters the corrugated plate coalescer in the lower part, where the polymerized oil droplets form larger oil droplets to the right oil collecting chamber

3: Sewage containing oil droplets of smaller particles passes through a fine filter to remove impurities in the water and enter the fiber polymerizer in turn, so that the fine oil droplets are aggregated into larger oil droplets and separated from the water.

4: After separation, the clean water is drained through the drain port, the dirty oil in the left and right oil collection chambers is automatically drained through the solenoid valve, and the dirty oil separated in the fiber polymerizer is drained through the manual valve.

The water and oil separation system uses stainless steel wire mesh to coalesce the packing inside, and the shell is made of steel welded tank structure. The general working pressure is 0.1Mpa-2.5Mpa. The principle is to use the organic combination of cyclone and stainless steel wire mesh to catch mist, and at the same time adopt the mechanisms of direct interception, inertial collision, Brownian diffusion and condensation, which can effectively remove dust, water and oil mist in compressed air, and remove water and oil. Large quantity, suitable for a wide range of working conditions.

When gases such as compressed air containing oil and water pass into the oil-water separator, the large droplets fall to the bottom of the oil-water separator under the action of gravity, and the misty small droplets are captured by the screen and condense into large droplets and fall to the bottom of the oil-water separator. The entrained liquid is thus separated out, and the separated liquid flows into the lower part and is discharged by manually opening the valve or installing an air drain valve in the lower part to be discharged out of the body

There are a total of ten specifications and models of marine oil-water separators. The smallest YWC-0.25(z) marine oil-water separator can be configured for ships under 1,000 tons, and the largest YWC-5 marine oil-water separator can be configured for ships over 300,000 tons.
