Classification of air filter

Generally, there are two types of air filter: paper filter and oil bath filter. Paper filter has been widely used due to its advantages of high filtration efficiency, light weight, low cost and convenient maintenance. The filtration efficiency of the paper filter element is as high as 99.5%, and the filtration efficiency of the oil bath filter is 95-96% under normal conditions. The air filter widely used in cars is paper filter, which is divided into dry type and wet type. For the dry filter element, once immersed in oil or water, the filtration resistance will increase sharply, so do not contact with water or oil during cleaning, otherwise it must be replaced.

When the engine is running, the intake air is intermittent, which causes the air vibration in the air cleaner housing. If the air pressure fluctuates too much, it will sometimes affect the intake air of the engine. In addition, the intake noise will also increase at this time. In order to suppress the intake noise, the volume of the air cleaner housing can be increased, and some partitions are also arranged in it to reduce resonance.

The filter element of air filter is divided into dry filter element and wet filter element. The dry filter element is made of filter paper or non-woven fabric. In order to increase the air passing area, the filter element is mostly processed with many small wrinkles. When the filter element is slightly damaged, compressed air can be used to blow it out. When the filter element is seriously damaged, it should be replaced with a new one in time.

The wet filter element is made of sponge-like polyurethane material. When loading, some oil should be dripped and rubbed evenly by hand to absorb foreign matters in the air. If the filter element is dirty, it can be cleaned with cleaning oil. If it is too dirty, it should also be replaced with a new filter element.

If the filter element is seriously blocked, the intake resistance will increase and the engine power will decrease. At the same time, the increase of air resistance will also increase the amount of gasoline inhaled, resulting in too rich mixture ratio, which will worsen the running state of the engine, increase fuel consumption, and easily cause carbon deposition. You should form the habit of regularly checking the air filter element at ordinary times.
