Structure and function

The main components of oil-water separation equipment, including control box, separator (with filter plate, filter element, etc.), pipeline, special supporting pump, automatic oil discharge monitoring system (oil discharge solenoid valve, heater, pressure gauge, temperature gauge) And probes and other ancillary equipment), etc.
The inspection basis is the MARPOL 73/78 convention and the 2004 domestic statutory inspection technical regulations for sea-going vessels. Any part of the defect will affect the separation effect of the equipment, so the general requirement is that the whole is in good condition.
1 Inspection control box
The control box includes a pump electric control box, an automatic oil discharge electric control box, and an oil discharge monitoring system electric control box, etc., some are combined, some are separate.
When checking, mainly check whether each electric control box can supply power and control the related electrical equipment normally, and whether the relevant indicator lights can be on. If the power indicator does not light up, it may be that the power switch of the oil-water separation device on the main switchboard or distribution board is not closed, or the fuse in the electric control box is broken.
2Inspect the separator and pipeline
(1) Check the separator
Check the simplified version of the separator and confirm:
●No serious corrosion, no rust through phenomenon.
●The nameplate is obvious, and the indicated processing capacity is in accordance with the certificate.
●Check the faucet of the upper sampling port on the barrel, which is unblocked and can be opened and closed freely.
(2) Check the installation of the separator
The installation requirement is that, under any circumstances, the water level in the separator will not drop due to the siphon effect, let alone the possibility of emptying.
The specific measurement standards are:
●If the separator is installed below the light load waterline, the top of the separator should be lower than the ship’s light load waterline by more than Im, or the overboard discharge port of the separator drain pipe is higher than the top of the separator by more than 1m:
●If the separator is installed above the light-load water line, the drain pipe must be higher than Im above the top of the separator, and a vent pipe and a vent valve are provided at the highest point of the drain pipe.
